Smart prioritization
Every assignment is scored by due date, point weight, and your current grade in the course — so the top of the list is always the single most worthwhile thing to do next.
Course Compass reads your Canvas to-do list and ranks every assignment by urgency, point value, and the grade you actually hold right now — then turns studying into a treasure hunt you'll want to finish.
Free to install · No Canvas password needed · Works on Chromebooks
A 5-point discussion post sits right next to the midterm. Everything looks equally urgent, so nothing does.
The assignment that could move your grade two letters looks identical to busywork. You can't see leverage.
You know you should study. Opening the doc, finding your notes, and beginning is where it falls apart.
Every assignment is scored by due date, point weight, and your current grade in the course — so the top of the list is always the single most worthwhile thing to do next.

An assignment-aware study timer that detects what you're working on and pays out dubloons when you finish a real session.
Library at home, Chromebook in class. Your settings and streak follow you; your notes stay private to you.
Install from the Chrome Web Store — coming soon, get notified. No account wall, no credit card to start.
A welcome screen opens after install and auto-detects your Canvas URL from any open tab — usually no typing needed. It reads your assignments through your own logged-in session — never your password.
A panel appears inside Canvas with your ranked list. Start at the top, earn dubloons, watch your streak grow.

No. Course Compass works through the Canvas session you're already logged into in your browser. We never ask for, store, or transmit your Canvas credentials.
No. Charted Edu Tech is an independent company. "Canvas" is the learning platform our tool helps you navigate; Course Compass is not endorsed by or affiliated with Instructure, Inc.
Your notes, PDFs, and the search index stay on your device by default. On paid plans you can opt in to encrypted cloud sync so your library follows you between computers. You can export everything at any time.
No. Course Compass is a read-only extension that operates on your device. It reads assignment data from Canvas pages you already have open — it doesn't send requests to Canvas on your behalf, doesn't create any records visible to Canvas admins, and leaves no footprint on your school's servers. Your professor and school have no way to see it's installed.
Smart prioritization, all the treasure-hunt study games, dubloons and streaks, the focus timer, and your local notes library — free forever. You also get a small one-time taste of the AI features so you can feel them before deciding to upgrade.
It's built for school hardware. The heavy AI work (OCR, PDF reading) runs on our servers on paid plans, and the on-page ranking is instant and local.
Anytime, in a couple of clicks. Billing is handled by our merchant of record, and your data stays exportable whether you stay free or paid.
Course Compass works with any school using the Canvas LMS by Instructure — which is the majority of US higher-ed and many K-12 districts. The welcome screen auto-detects your Canvas URL from open tabs, so setup is usually just one click. It does not work with Blackboard, Moodle, or other LMS platforms.
Clipper is your study parrot — a mascot who lives in the extension and keeps you company while you work. Clipper hands out crackers when you read your notes, cheers streaks, and can be tuned from quiet to chatty in settings. The name is a nod to Clippy, the original misunderstood assistant. We think we can do better.
Course Compass is a Chrome extension, so it works in any Chromium-based browser: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Brave. Firefox and Safari are not supported — Chrome extensions use a different format. Most school Chromebooks run Chrome, so that covers the majority of students.
Under two minutes. Install the extension, open the welcome screen — it scans your open tabs to find your Canvas URL, so you usually don't have to type anything. No account, no credit card, no API key. The priority list is live as soon as you open Canvas.
